Amani is a Swahili word that means peace and tranquility….the lull just before a storm. Amani started singing, performing and participating in church talent searches at the tender age of six. At primary school level was composing songs and developed a keen interest in poetry to the extent of participating and winning in several national competitions. In high school she formed an accapella group called Sobriety. Amani went solo in 1999 and recorded and released “Move On” a surprise radio hit that went to Urban Kenyan music with the various faces of love as a central theme. In 2002 Amani did a collaboration with Nameless titled “Ninanoki” (I am going crazy) that introduced her as a big league East African artiste. Ninanoki went on to become one of the biggest songs in East and Southern Africa for 2 consecutive years becoming a classic in its own right. Amani’s soothing melodies uplift the soul and mind, combined this with electrifying stage performances and you have the sensational Amani.
Amani has won 7 Awards in East Africa with the release of her debut album ‘Tamani’. Her hit single “Missing My Baby” has topped charts all over East Africa and also made it to number one on the African Radio Express Chart making her the first ever and only African artiste to have ever topped the chart. Her latest single ‘Tonite’ is quickly climbing the African music charts. Amani has toured all over East Africa, Dubai, USA, and Europe.
